Crater Lake with Bicycle Adventures

Our week long trip in Oregon.

The space above will have a map of our trip when I get it set up.

We had some time to visit with friends in Portland the night before the trip and the night we returned from Crater Lake.

Ron Cinniger, Nolan Myers & Judith Swinney

Me on the left with friends in Portland.

This is the Judge in his courtroom.

We served together in the Navy in VA-216!!

In our last picture in this pose, we were in Japan wearing kimonos.

Ron & Nolan enjoy a beer at Ron's home.

We all enjoyed dinner at a nearby restaurant on the river.

Ron & Ikie, our host & hostess in Portland.

Julie & Andrew met us for drinks & dinner when we returned from our ride.

After a great dinner with Ron & Ikie, Ron took us to the Heathman Hotel downtown for our launch. Our first ride was about 30 miles into Westfir, just outside of Oakridge.  Day two was out first full day of riding, starting out from the Westfir Inn at the covered bridge. Here is a map of the trip.

The van picked us up at the Heathman Hotel in Portland.

Our first night on the road was at Westfir Inn.

Pat McClain turned out to be one of our lead entertainers on the trip.

Dinners were great. I think we all gained weight on the trip.

Starting on the left: Lovisa, Alisa, Ro, Kim, Thomas, Scott, Pat, David & Nolan.

Reversing the camera got me in the picture at the far end of the table.

Nice covered bridge at Westfir alongside the Inn.

Our first rest stop of the day in beautiful country.

Lunch in the woods prepared by our master chef!

Day three was a big day crossing MacKenzie Pass. For a map of the route, click here.

Day four was a layover at Sunriver Resort, where we went out t try some fly fishing.

At the outfitter, "The Hook", getting set for our expedition.

We drove about an hour to get to a small stream.

There were 5 guests with 2 guides.

Nolan & David with Pat MacClain.

We walked along the stream to get to places where we could fich.

This stream only had very small trout, all "catch & release".

We didn't catch much, but the scenery was glorious and it was a great experience.

David worked hard at the process.

What a great place to spend a few pleasant hours!

After our rest day, we took off on the Cascade Lakes Highway.

Our last two days were at Crater Lake. We took a short ride on the first day to a great lunch spot at Cloudcap. That evening, the snow started, and we woke up the next morning to a snow covered scene. While at the lake, we got our only shot of the entire group.

Picture yourself relaxing with a good book in this setting.

On the evening of the 14th , we began to get some snowfall.

The next morning, we could see that the biking was over.

No sorrow here!

It was a beautiful ride down from Crater Lake, which is over 6,000 feet.

On the ride down from the Lake we were all feeling good.
